Formelia's Garden

Formelia’s garden has no roses but you would never notice.

It's filled with flowers that make you feel like you're in paradise.

Critters that happily pose for a picture as long as you don’t disturb them.

Colors so vibrant a rainbow would be jealous.

Pieces from Mexico that will remind you of childhood vacations.

A statue of the Daisy that once roamed her garden

Something is always blooming in her garden.

One can only dream of a garden like Formelia’s garden

Once upon time in Santa Monica

As I mentioned yesterday, if you walk 1.4 miles from the Venice boardwalk you will hit the Santa Monica pier. Santa Monica has a completely different vibe from Venice. It's cleaner, family oriented and has a mini amusement park.

While walking on the pier I came across these murals. I love the bright colors used, and how both couples look like they are having a wonderful time.

Here are some people whom I'd like to think are having a wonderful time.

p.s. The sun eventually came out and it was a beautiful day.

Venice Murals

To mark the end of summer we headed to the beach this past weekend. This time we went to Venice beach and walked the boardwalk before going into the ocean. Venice beach is one of the craziest beaches in Southern California, it's filled with street performers, vendors, restaurants, tourist and artists. So naturally you will run into some crazy murals.

In recent years, the Venice culture has changed a lot. Drug use is openly seen on the boardwalk and the homeless community seems to increase every year.

The Venice boardwalk is one of my least favorite boardwalks but I wouldn't mind living in a building like this one! Maybe just for the summer?

If you walk about 1.4 miles you will hit the Santa Monica Pier...

but more on that tomorrow.

Beauty in the City

Sometimes we think we need to travel to distant places to see beautiful sights but that's not necessarily true. If you do a little research you can find beautiful locations in your own city. This weekend was extremely hot so my friend and I decided to use our Saturday morning to take a paddle boat ride in Echo Park. This was a first for both of us; it was fun and nice to get out of the lazy Saturday morning routine. Get out there and see what beautiful sights your city has to offer, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Summer Days

Summer is rapidly coming to an end, although the weather this week in California would make you think otherwise. Summer time always seems too short for me because I love summer.  I love days like this one! On this day my sister, cousin and I drove to Redondo Beach, got on a boat and sailed around the harbor.  During our adventure we saw beautiful marine animals, people watched and ate ice cream. This day was the ideal summer day in Southern California.

Batman Exhibit

If you live in the Los Angeles area and like Batman or TV for that matter, you should check out the Batman exhibit at the Warner Brothers Studio. The admission also includes a tour of the Warner Brothers lot. The tour last about two hours but are only given 20-25 minutes to see the actual Batman memorabilia. Flash photography is not permitted throughout some of the tour so some of my pictures were a little dark.
A plus was seeing the Central Perk set!
